Was looking today to add something nutritional to some chicken tortilla soup today. Didn’t have time to cook rice. That old standby, crackers, is basically empty calories … and pretty boring. Wished I had some kind of tortilla chips made extra tiny and soggy-proof. Something like tortilla chip cereal. Why not reformulate cereals so they add a little crunch to soup? Most cereals are too sweet, so you wouldn’t want Alpha-Bits in your alphabet soup, but maybe some kind of extra-dense mini-flakes. Create a kind of Brown Rice Krispies that would become like real rice. Maybe they’d have flavors more like vegetables, so you’d have Veggie Loops instead of Froot Loops. Make ’em right, maybe they’d work on stews, stewed tomatoes, even lasagna or casseroles.
